Introduction-

After conceiving, a woman often is registered her name in any hospital or private nursing home for delivery or keeps talking to a mid-wife earlier that a doctor had told her about delivery time, but sometimes it may be possible of sudden labor pain or birth started before going to the hospital, etc. In such conditions, you should not loose your heart, but should take work with patience. In this case, you should act carefully as following:

  • First of all, arrange a bed which is not too soft. If it is not available in hurry, unfold (spread) a mat on the ground (floor) and then spread a white bed sheet on it.
  • After that, the pregnant should lie down on her back and should not get nervousness.
  • In this position, both her legs should remain as separated from each other and both her knees as bended. When the head of the child started visible at the time of delivery, she should lift her both legs up. At this time, applying force by her is necessary but don’t worry too much for it, because it is done by itself or with the blessing of nature.
  • If dettol is available, apply it on the vaginal mouth of a pregnant to prevent infection.
  • After birth, make newly born baby as lying down closed to the mother. Sometimes, the navel (cord connected with one end to the baby and other end to the ovule of mother) is short in length. The baby should not be kept at distance until the ovule came out, because it may stretch the navel extra.
  • Normally, the child starts crying just after taking birth. The eyes, ears and mouth should be cleaned immediately after birth.
  • The head of the baby should not have remained opposite the vagina, because sharp secretions come out after child birth. Hence, the baby should be kept protect from this sharp secretions.
  • In the delivery room, boiled water must be kept ready with a scissors and two pieces of thread (folded many times).
  • After cleaning from outside, the baby should be wrapped in a piece of blanket or towel. When the baby comes out by leaving the darkness of the uterus, he/she has to face quite different temperature, thus be careful about his/her safety.
  • If doctor or nurse or mid-wife is not available for delivery, anyone in the family member having knowledge of delivery should take out the thread from boiled water with the help of tongs. After that, the thread should be tied on the cord at the distance of about 8 inches from the navel. Another piece of thread should be tied on the other side of the cord toward ovule. Both the thread must be strong and tied tightly.
  • Then, take out scissors from boiled water and cut the cord. Be careful while doing all these works.
  • After cutting the cord (navel pipe), the baby can be separated and wait for coming out the ovule. While coming out the ovule, dirty hands should not be used, because it may cause infection.
  • After coming out the ovule, the uterus appears as raised from the outside of the stomach like a ball. It should be massaged.
  • At this time, if a delivered woman has desire for taking any hot beverage, harera (a kind of pottage prepared from dry fruits and spices) can be given to her.
