 USHTA ASANA


Introduction:

        The person does the practice of this asana by raising the neck up like camel. Therefore, it is called Ushta Asana in yoga. The practice of this asana ends the problem of throat glands and makes the spinal cord strong and flexible.

  Spread a mat or bed sheet on the floor and stand straight for the practice of this asana. Now bend both your legs from the knees backward and sit on the knees. Keep a distance of half inch between the heels and kneeTechnique:

Keep a distance of half inch between the heels and knees. Now bend your body backward slowly and hold the heel by one hand thereafter hold the second heel by another hand. Now keep the body straight by making the angle of 70 degree to the upper portion of the knee. After that, bend your body backward slowly while inhaling and bring the head downward. Keep the hands and waist in stretched position and mouth upward. Stay in this position for sometime and return in normal position while exhaling. Take rest for sometime and repeat this activity. Repeat it 3 times.

        The person feels difficulty in the beginning of the practice of this asana. Bend the body backward from the waist carefully.Precaution:

Don’t give pressure while bending the body backward because it may be harmful for the waist and spinal cord, so try to complete this asana slowly. The face should be kept in east direction in the practice of this asana. Weight of whole body is on the both knees during the practice of this asana, so spread a thick cloth and soft cloth under the knees for the practice.

Benefits:

        The practice of this asana affects the complete breathing system. This asana is useful for the patients of lungs disorders and asthma. It makes the lungs strong. Besides it, it ends the flabbiness of the throat glands and makes the muscles of the back strong and reduces the fat gathered the stomach (obesity). Problem of catarrh and cold and sciatica are cured by this asana. Muscles of the back, waist and shoulders become strong and flexible by the practice of this asana.

        The wave of consciousness climbs upwards in the backbone by the practice of this asana by which the mind becomes calm and produces special qualities in a person by reaching in the brain by the constant waves of pleasure and joy. Supplying these waves in the brain is not an easy task, so efforts are done to supply these waves into the brain by the help of this asana. A person feels the sensation of climbing waves in the backbone when divine traits enter in a person. This is the wave of universal consciousness. Therefore, a yogi tries to bring out from the brahamrandhra by absorbing from the moolaadhar. A person gets several supernatural powers after getting success in it.
