Colour: Turmeric is yellow.  Taste: It is spicy and pungent.  Structure: Its leaves are big, long and fragrant. Its root is called turmeric. Introduction:

          Turmeric is being used in homely remedies and food since ancient time. It is used in the vegetables and pulses for making yellow. It makes the meals testy. There are two kinds of turmeric: 1. Hard turmeric like iron, 2. Soft and fragrant turmeric, which is used in spices. Another kind of turmeric is found only in forests is known as Amba turmeric (mango ginger). It is not used in spices, but it ends itching and blood disorders.

          Turmeric plants appear green on the earth. Its plants are 2-3 feet high and leaves are like banana leaves. Its burls are dug out from the earth thereafter they are become clean. Now, Put these burls in a soil-pot (matka) and close it. Cooking these burls on light fire ends raw smell of it. These burls are sold after drying.

          Turmeric is a useful medicine. All human being whether the person is child, young, old or a pregnant woman can take turmeric. It purifies blood and makes the body fair-skinned. It normalizes vatta, pitta and kapha and cures the diseases of digestive system and other kind of diseases. Taking turmeric with light hot milk prevents cough. It increases prophylactic (fighting power) in the body and brings phlegm out. It is used to paint cloths. Kumkum is prepared from turmeric and lime. It is useful to normalize diabetes. Guru, Aacharya and physicians called it ‘Mehhani’ in the ancient time.

          Turmeric is bitter and pungent in taste, dry and hot in nature. It makes the body fair-skinned. It is useful for the treatment of bile disorders, skin diseases, diabetes, swelling, jaundice, leprosy, blood disorders, etc. It kills the stomach worms and alleviates poisoning.

          Turmeric is useful to eliminate gas. Taking turmeric reduces inflammation of the nerve caused by cold. It is used to massage the body. It also cures jaundice, spermatorrhoea caused by bile and internal injury.
