Murchha means behosi (senselessness). It has been called senselessness because the human is turns into senselessness position in this Pranayama. This Pranayama is different from other activities of Pranayama and its practice is difficult. The practice of this Pranayama should be done in the supervision of yoga guru. This activity of Pranayama is done in sitting position of padma asana or sidha asana.
Two techniques of murccha pranayama has been described-
Technique of practice in padma asana sitting position -
Use neat, clean and peace place for the practice of this Pranayama. Spread a mat or bed sheet on the floor and sit in the padma asana or siddha asana. Now take deep breath and stop and apply jalandhara bandh (bend the body and touch the chin with the throat and raise both the shoulders and bring forward). Thereafter, close both the eyelids by the index finger and middle finger slowly. Raise lower lip by both the small fingers and close the mouth. After that, stay in this position as much as you can stop the breath inside. Now open jalandhara bandh and separate the fingers and exhale slowly. Thus, do the practice of this activity 3-5 times.
This activity is done in sitting position of sidha asana. In this activity, sit in sidhda asana and put both the hands on the knees and raise your head up lightly and keep behind. After that, take deep breath through both the nostrils and stop it and do the practice of jalandhara bandh. Now stop your breath according to your capacity and open the jalandhara bandh and exhale slowly. Thus, do the practice of this activity 3-5 times. The time of this activity keeps on increasing slowly.
In both the activities, make the mind thoughts free while stopping the breath and don’t generate any types of thoughts in the mind. In this activity, involve the mind in the soul and give up external thoughts. Thus, condition of unconsciousness originates in the body but, the person remains alive. In this activity, breath is stopped in this activity first. Stop your breath according to your capacity. Thereafter, increase its number of practice slowly. This practice of this Pranayama can be done for 5-10 minutes while increasing the time of practice of Pranayama.
Do the practice of this Pranayama in the supervision of any yoga guru. The person, who suffers from high blood pressure, giddiness and mental problems, should not do the practice of this Pranayama. This activity is not for common person. This Pranayama is for those persons, who want to get Samadhi or other yoga siddhis.
This Pranayama ends tension and fear. Samadhi which is got after the practice of this Pranayama viz after the practice of murchha pranayama is very important. This activity keeps the mind happy and calm. The person reaches in the spiritual, divine and religious environment. It makes the mind withdrawn. A person gets mental and physical stability. The practice of this Pranayama does not allow to tension, fear and anger to appear in a person.
It calms the mind and ends mental problems. The heart pulsation reduces caused by deficiency of oxygen in the body by which the person reaches in the condition of senselessness. The practice of this Pranayama increases the vitality power and also increases the age because of the functions of the heart. A man who is suffering from male diseases gets lots of benefit by this pranayama. The practice of such activity cures such diseases as semen related diseases, spermtorrhoea, impotency, etc.
