Jut plant is bitter and sweet in taste and increases appetite. It helps in stool clearly and eliminates gas. It cures piles, bloody pile and stops to make phlegm. It increases body strength and memory power.
Its leaves are bitter, stimulating and nutritive. It increases urine quantity and reduces inflammation. The cooked vegetable of jut plant kopal (soft and tender leaves) is eaten in Bengal.
Taking powder of dried leaves of jut plant with coriander is more useful than chiretta.
