Many sections have been made in yoga as asana, pranayam, mudra and bandha. In them, hasta mudras have important place. Only ten fingers of both the hands are used in every type of mudras. Mudras of fingers have the secrets of treatment of ailments. Five elements are present in all the fingers of the hands.
Gherand sanhita is the oldest ancient grantha which describe about mudra and other yoga asanas. This grantha of Hathyoga was written by Maharshi Gheranda. In this grantha, Lord Bhole Shankar says to Mata Parvati that o goddess, I learnt you about the mudras and this knowledge is sufficient to get siddhis.
Every person knows about the human body that our body is made of the mixture of the sky, air, fire, water and earth and these different types of elements are present in the hand’s fingers as- fire element in the thumb, air element in the index finger, sky element in the middle finger, earth element in the ring finger and water element in the small finger.
As currency has great value in this world in the same way the shape, which originates by joining or touching the fingers of hands together in any special position, is called mudra. Many types of diseases can be cured by the help of mudra. Five sections of the fingers tell about the five elements by which different types of electric waves flow. Therefore, when the fingers are touched altogether according to diseases in the mudra science, electric waves flow in the body and evoke the strength of the body. Thus, our body starts to become disease free.
Many types of benefits by the mudras have been described in the yoga science as all types of body diseases disappear and good thoughts originate in the mind, etc. The person, who wants make his life happy, disease free and healthy, should do the practice of mudras according his need. Children and old persons also can do the practice of mudra.
The result of mudras starts to appear soon in the opposite side from which side we are doing the practice of these mudras. Here it means to say that if someone makes the mudra by the left hand, it shows its result in the right side of the body. These mudras should be done in vajra asana, padma asana or sukha asana. Regular practice of this mudra for 30-45 minutes is beneficial. If you feel problem in the practice of this mudra in one time, you can get complete benefit of this mudra by doing it 2-3 times.
The finger, which is not being used in the practice of mudra, should be kept straight. Keep one thing in the brain that the practice of mudra by one hand shows its result in the organs of opposite side of the body.
