Fibula

Fibula

Fibula is a long and thin bone outwards of the leg and parallel to tibia. Its upper head attach with the lateral condyle of tibia just below the knee but it does not take part in making the joint of knee. There is a steloid process from head to upperside. The narrow portion just below the head is its neck.

The shaft of fibula is thin and there are ridges on it and on one ridge there is a stripe of fibrous tissues which keeps on sustaining it with the tibia.

Its lower head is bulged out towards the out of knee in the form of lateral malleolus. It comes out below the tibia and joints with the talus.
