DANDA ASANA


Introduction:

        This asana is called ‘Danda Lagana’ in Hindi language. This asana was used by the wrestlers in the field wrestling in ancient time. This asana is called ‘Danda Lagana’ in Hindi language. There is another technique too for the practice of this asana in which upper portion of the waist is raised until the shape of triangle makes between the floor and the body. Practice of this asana should be done in clean environment at airy place by spreading mat or bed sheet.

Technique:

        For the practice of ‘Danda Asana, lie down on the stomach. After that, join both the legs together and keep them in stretched form. Now bend arms from the elbows by keeping a distance in the arms in the line of chest. Now stretch to the whole body and take breath slowly and raise body upwards with the support of both the hands until the hands become straight by giving pressure on the tiptoes. Now keep the body a little above from the floor by exhaling breath and bring the body up by inhaling breath. Repeat this process many times. Take rest after this asana by exhaling the breath.

Benefits:

        The practice of this asana develops the nerves of the left shoulder and chest. This asana makes the hands and feet hard and chest wide and strong. It makes the tiptoes and palms strong. It increases breathing capacity too and the throat heaves. This asana makes all the body organs healthy.
