Especially, White ceylen leadwort is found in west Bengal, Utter Pradesh, South India and Shri Lanka. Mostly, red ceylen leadwort is found on Khasiya Mountain, in Sikkim and Bihar.Introduction:

         Ceylen leadwort (cheeta) is cultivated in all over India. There are two kinds of it: red and white. Red leadwort’s flowers are red and white leadwort's flowers are white. Especially, White ceylen leadwort is found in west Bengal, Utter Pradesh, South India and Shri Lanka. Mostly, red ceylen leadwort is found on Khasiya Mountain, in Sikkim and Bihar. Ceylen leadwort’s root, juice and leaves are used in medicines. It is a 1.5 to 3.5 hand high forestry medicine. According to some scholars, there are two kinds of it but some scholars are considered that, there are three kinds of it.

Red Ceylen leadwort: Ceylen leadwort makes the body strong. It increases appetite and cures leprosy. It is chemical and provides a new vitality to the body.

Black Ceylen leadwort: Taking black ceylen leadwort makes the hair black. Casting smelt black Ceylen leadwort (which is smelt by cow) in the milk makes the milk black.

Color: Ceylen leadwort’s leaves are green. Its flower is white, red and root is white.

Taste: It is bitter.

Ceylen leadwort is a kind of grass which is found in barren and solitary place. There are many kinds of Ceylen leadwort as white, red, black and yellow. Structure: Ceylen leadwort is a kind of grass which is found in barren and solitary place. There are many kinds of Ceylen leadwort as white, red, black and yellow. The plant of white flower is found on every place besides it other flower’s plants are rarely found. The root of lead-wort is used in medicines.

Outer structure: Ceylen leadwort plant is 3-6 feet high. It is an evergreen shrub. Its stem is very small. Many branches which are soft, thin, green and smooth appear on it. Its leaves are green, pointed, 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. Its flowers are 4-12 inches long and appear in groups with branches. Its flower has a long pipe which has no smell. Its fruit is long-round which has one seed. Its bark has small bulges. It is bitter and pungent in taste and offensive too. Its flowers appear in September and November and sticky fruits are surrounded with hair.

Chemical union: Ceylen leadwort root contains plembegin named element. Besides it, ceylen leadwort contains grape sugar, fruit sugar, protiage, envertege named enzymes.

Nature: It is hot in nature.

Precaution: Taking over quantity of ceylen leadwort may be harmful for the liver. It works like poison if it is taken in excessive quantity, so it should be taken after understanding. Blisters appear on the skin if its paste is normally coated on the body.

Bad effects Removal: Gum of Acacia arabica and pistacia lentischs (mastagi) remove the bad effects of ceylen leadwort.

Compare: It can be compared with mudar root and zedoary.

Dosage: 3 grams quantity of it can be used.

Quality:

Ceylen leadwort is digestible. It generates wound soon. It burns to the skin and brings out offensive stool from the stomach by loose motions. It is also useful to make voice clear. It eliminates gas and cures rheumatism. White leprosy is cured by coating a paste of ceylen leadwort on the affected part. It ends sprue, swelling, pile, cough and kills worms (intestines worms) too. Ceylen leadwort is a beneficial medicine to cure stomach diseases. Ceylen leadwort ends phlegm (kappha) by his quality of pungent, bile (pitta) by his bitterness and gas (Vatta) by his warm. Thus, lead-wort is useful to end tridosa and the vatta caused by warmth. It is digestible and brings out stool from the intestines. It is bitter and nutritive, so it purifies the breast and blood and cures swelling too. It brings out phlegm and cures fever. It is an anti-piles medicine. Ceylen leadwort and bitter gourd end the effect of poison and cures leprosy, urinary problems and vomiting, itching, wound and brings out phlegm too. Ceylen leadwort, cutag, bastard teak and trifala (myrabalan chebulie, myrabalan and Indian gooseberry) are useful to cure spermtorrhoea, piles, diabetes and loose motions. Lead-wort, myrabalan chebulie, Indian gooseberry, beleric myrabalan and padha are useful to cure vagina diseases and purify milk. It is digestible and brings phlegm out too.

Precautions: Ceylen leadwort should not be used in excessive quantity. It should be used in proper quantity. The over quantity of Ceylen leadwort works as poison.

Useful in different diseases:

1. Diarrhea, sprue: Taking 1-2 grams powder of ceylen leadwort seeds with whey or lukewarm water thrice a day prevents diarrhea.

2. Elephantiasis: Grind the root of ceylen leadwort and apply it on the affected part. Its use reduces the swelling caused by elephantiasis.

3. Restart of stopped nerve: If the nerve of a person, who is near death, is stopped but at the moment he is alive, grind Ceylen leadwort and apply its paste on the nerve. Doing this a blister will appear on the nerve and the pulsation of nerve will increase.  

4. Medicine of liver and spleen disorders: Grind fine equal quantity of Ceylen leadwort, impure carbonate of potash, five salts, alkali of tamarind and toasted asafetida with lemon. Taking 720 milligrams from this mixture 4 times a day is useful to cure the diseases of liver and spleen.

5. Weakness:

  • Take 1-2 grams red-ceylen leadwort with honey twice a day, it ends body weakness and provides energy in the body.
  • Taking half to 2 grams red ceylen leadwort with honey twice a day is useful to cure tuberculosis of liver. Weakness ends off and body becomes healthy and strong by its use.

6. Swelling: Rub oil of ceylen leadwort root on the affected part, it reduces swelling.

7. Amoebic dysentery: Make the powder by grinding equal quantity of lead-wort, piper chaba and dry ginger together and take, it cures amoebic dysentery.

8. Indigestion: Grind equal quantity of lead-wort, caraway, dry ginger, black pepper and black salt together. Taking this mixture with sour whey regularly for seven days is useful to end indigestion.

9. Fielon: Grind fine ceylen leadwort and apply it on the affected part. Its use brings pus out from the finger and stops internal purulence too.

10. Rheumatism:

  • Make the fine powder by grinding equal quantity of ceylen leadwort, pierorhiza, holarrhena antidysentrica, sweet flag, nutgrass, Indian atees, cedar, tinospora, myrabolam and dry ginger together. Taking this powder with water twice a day regularly is useful to cure rheumatism pain due to cold.
  • Rub the oil of ceylen leadwort root on the affected part, it cures rheumatism.

11. Jaundice: Taking the powder of ceylen leadwort root with whey is useful to cure jaundice.

12. Elephantiasis:

  • Grind the bark of ceylen leadwort or cedar or white mustard or horse radish tree with cow urine and then heat it. Coating this hot preparation on the affected part is useful to cure elephantiasis.
  • Grind the root of ceylen leadwort and apply it on the affected part. Its use ends elephantiasis.

13. Epistaxis: Licking 2 grams powder of ceylen leadwort with honey is beneficial to stop nose bleeding.

14. Hoarseness: Licking 1-2 grams celery fruit, turmeric, Indian gooseberry, impure carbonate of potash and ceylen leadwort powder with ghee and honey regularly thrice a day is useful to cure the hoarseness.

15. Digestive power:

  • Take equal quantity of black salt, myroblelans, long pepper and ceylen leadwort with lukewarm water, it increases appetite. It also digests ghee, meat and new rice easily. Dose 1-2 grams.
  • Taking 2-5 grams powder of fresh root of ceylen leadwort with babereng and nut grass twice a day before meals is beneficial to end anorexia, indigestion and increase appetite.

16. Sprue:

  • Mix ghee with the decoction or powder of ceylen leadwort and take 5-10 grams from it. It is useful to cure sprue (Loose motions).
  • Make the powder by grinding equal quantity of lead-wort, piper chaba, pulp of bengle quince kernel and dry ginger together. Taking 3-6 gram from this powder twice a day is useful to prevent dysentery.

17. Spleen disorders: Taking 1-3 grams powder of ceylen leadwort root or turmeric or ripe leaf of madar or woodfordia floribunda with jiggery thrice a day is useful to end spleen disorders.

18. Normal delivery: A lady gives birth to the child easily by licking about 10 grams powder of ceylen leadwort root with 2 spoons honey.

19. Vatta diseases: Taking equal quantity of ceylen leadwort root, holarrhena antidysentrica, pierorhiza, root of kali pahar tree, Indian atees and myralelans together twice a day is useful to eliminate gas. 

20. Hysteria: Make the powder by grinding equal quantity of ceylen leadwort root, Indian penny wort and sweet flag together. Taking 1-3 grams from this powder thrice a day is useful to cure hysteria.

21. Paralysis: Mix fine powder of red ceylen leadwort with oil and rub it on the affected part. Its use removes the leprosy and rheumatism.

22. Puerperal fever (Fever after delivery): Taking 2-5 grams powder of ceylen leadwort thrice a day is useful to cure this fever. It stimulates to the uterus and brings out the dirty excretion because of which the lady gets relief from the pain (makkal pain). This mixture should be given to the lady with 10-20 milliliters juice of five leaved chaste tree in puerperal fever.

23. Fever:

  • Taking 2-5 grams powder of ceylen leadwort root with dry ginger, black pepper and long pepper is useful to cure fever.
  • If someone has been suffering from low circulation of blood during fever and the patient can not eat food, chew the pieces of ceylen leadwort. Chewing it is useful to provide relief.

24. Skin diseases: Grind the bark of ceylen leadwort with milk or water. This mixture should be coated on the skin to cure leprosy and other skin diseases. Or prepare a poultice by the same things and tie it on the affected part until a blister appears on there. The flecks of white leprosy are removed when the blister fills.

26. Itching: Coating milk of red ceylen leadwort on the affected part is useful to end itching.

27. Leprosy:

  • Taking 2-5 grams powder of dried root bark of red ceylen leadwort twice a day is useful to get relief.
  • 1-3 grams powder of ceylen leadwort should be taken with cow urine thrice a day to get relief.
  • Taking the ground bark of ceylen leadwort with the milk for 1 year continuously is useful to cure leprosy and other skin diseases.

28. Pus from the wounds: Grind ceylen leadwort bark with water and coat it on the wound to close mouth of flowing wounds.

29. Mouse poison: Fry powder of ceylen leadwort bark with oil and rub it on the sole. It alleviates mouse poison.

30. Cough: cough is cured by licking 1 gram fine powder of ceylen leadwort with honey twice a day.

31. Over eating: Taking half to 2 grams alkali of ceylen leadwort’ root with whey twice a day is useful to get relief in over eating. Keep attention that this preparation should not be taken during pregnancy. There is no side effect of ceylen leadwort on the liver if one ground flower of rose is mixed in each dosage of this preparation.

32. Cancer: Taking half to 2 grams red ceylen leadwort twice a day makes the body strong and a new luster comes on the body.

33. Abortion: Ceylen leadwort effects (contraction) on the uterus very much. The embryo destroys within four hour only by taking it any time during pregnancy but the baby dies in the womb. Half to two grams powder of ceylen leadwort should be given to the woman for abortion and put ceylen leadwort root in the uterus’ vent and wait. The womb will be destroyed. Keep attention after abortion otherwise excessive bleeding starts from the uterus can be dangerous.

34. Piles:

  • Taking 2 grams powder of ceylen leadwort root with whey twice a day before meals is useful to get relief in the disease piles.
  • Taking about 1-2 grams powder of ceylen leadwort root with whey thrice a day is useful to cure piles.
  • Make the powder by grinding 80 grams bark of ceylen leadwort root, 160 grams powder of dried telugo potato, 40 grams dry ginger, 20 grams black pepper, 80 grams liquorice, 160 grams elephant creeper seeds, 20 grams cinnamon, 20 grams cardamom, 40 grams long pepper root, 40 grams himaloyan yew (talish-patra), 40 grams pure uarking nut tree and 40 grams barbering together. Mix old jiggery in this powder after filtering and prepare sweetmeats from it. Taking one sweetmeat regularly is useful to cure piles.
  • Grind ceylen leadwort root and coat it on earthen pot. Freeze milk in this pot and shake it very well in this pot. Piles is cured by taking this whey.
  • Make the powder by grinding equal quantity of ceylen leadwort, sweet scented oleander, knot grass (kassi), boliospermum montanum and rock salt together. Mix 7 drops milk of mudar in this powder. After that, cook it with sesame oil. Applying this preparation on the moles after evacuation regularly is useful to cure piles. The moles dry by its use.
  • Take half to 2 grams root of ceylen leadwort with curd twice a day, it cures piles.

35. AIDS: Take half to 2 grams red ceylen leadwort with honey twice a day, it makes the body healthy and provides vitality.

36. Liver diseases:

  • Grind 3 grams ceylen leadwort root and 3 grams aniseed with lemon juice for 12 hours there after prepare tablets from it. Take 1-1 tablets twice a day, it cures liver diseases.
  • Soak 3 grams ceylen leadwort root and 3 grams dry ginger in water at overnight. In the next morning, grind this material and prepare a mixture from it. Taking this preparation is useful to reduce liver enlargement.

37. Diabetes:

  • Grind fine 6 grams panchang (root, stem, leaves, fruit and flower) of ceylen leadwort tree and boil it with half liter water until it remains ¼ parts then filter it. Taking this decoction twice a day for 3-4 days regularly. Its use provides relief in diabetes.
  • Boil 6 grams powder of ceylen leadwort panchang (root, stem, leaves, fruit and flower) with 300 ml water until it remains 50 ml water then put it down. Taking this light hot decoction twice a day for 3 weeks regularly is useful to reduce diabetes.

38. Obesity (Fatness): Take fine powder of ceylen leadwort with honey, it cures stomach diseases and reduces obesity (fatness).

39. Plague: Grind ceylen leadwort root and rub it on the patient sole, patient gets relief from plague.

40. Migraine: Make the powder by grinding 10 grams ceylen leadwort, 10 grams orissa root and 10 grams dry ginger together. Taking about 1 gram from this powder with sweet (which is prepared by the condensed milk and ground sugar) is useful to cure migraine.

41. Wound: Grind bark of ceylen leadwort root and rock salt with whey there after prepare soup from it. Wound is cured by putting it on the affected part.

42. Ulcer: Grind ceylen leadwort root and apply it on the matured ulcer. Using this process bursts ulcer by itself.

43. Rheumatism:

  • Make the fine powder by grinding equal quantity of ceylen leadwort root, Indian gooseberry, myrolealans, Indian rheubarb and black salt together. Taking 4-5 grams this powder with lukewarm water at the bed time is useful to cure chronic rheumatism, intestine diseases and eliminates gas too.
  • Coating the paste of ceylen leadwort on the affected part is useful to get relief in the rheumatism pain caused by old age.

44. Heart problems: Make a decoction by boiling ceylen leadwort, trikuta (the aggregate of three spices as black pepper, long pepper and dry ginger) and long pepper root 10 grams each with 500 ml water. Taking this decoction twice a day is useful to get relief in heart pain.

45. Low blood pressure: Taking 0.5 milligrams to 2 grams powder of red ceylen leadwort with honey twice a day ends weakness and makes blood pressure normal.

46. Anaemia: Grind dried (dry it under the shadow) bark of ceylen leadwort root and mix 100 ml juice of ceylen leadwort in it. Taking 3 grams this preparation is useful to end anaemia.
